Styling a Blazer For Any Occasion

We all have a power piece in our wardrobe, whether you know it or not. Its the article of clothing, or a specific accessory that makes you feel like you can do absolutely anything. It gives you an air of confidence and quite simply, it makes you feel good. For me, that is a good blazer. Oversized, structured and sleek, lightweight and drapey, I’m here for all of the above . Many believe that blazers are restricted to the workplace. I’m here to tell you, that is a lie. Don’t limit your style to the expectation of others. Style is something that is unique to each individual. So often we dress for others, and forget that its all about dressing for yourself.

Although I don’t work in a corporate workspace, blazers take over a good portion of my wardrobe. I always tell myself that I don’t need any more.. and then I go thrifting and find one in a color I don’t have yet. I’m working towards the rainbow my friends. They’re are powerful, versatile, and always add an element of chic confidence.

“Wear what makes you confident, and the world will believe you.”

Here are a few of my favorite ways that I love to style them:

A black blazer is a closet staple in any closet. Dressing it down with casual basics like cut offs and an easy tank makes for a polished daytime look. In the Fall, switch out the shorts and sandals for jeans and slides!

In the same way as the black goes, a good white blazer is such a closet staple, and equally as versatile. Dressing down a bright white blazer with matching sneakers makes for a crisp and casual daytime look. You can take it many directions, but I like the lightness and refreshing feel of a light wash denim, and lighter hued tank. Did someone say wine? This would make such an effortless happy hour or lunch look!

Polished and clean, a structured white blazer over a lightweight dress or romper adds a level of chic that is just oh so simple. You could really layer this blazer over almost any dress, but I especially love it with a lightweight fabric that moves. The structured contrast makes for a well balanced look. Throw on some fun shoes for date night or lunch with the girls. Snake-skin is in right now, and these chunky heeled sandals have just the right amount of umph, while staying a neutral.

Always a sucker for a good monochrome look, and this bright ensemble is no exception. Don’t be afraid to play with color, especially in Summer. This lightweight linen blazer is ideal for dressing down. I couldn’t resist pairing it with these cuffed frayed him jeans in the vibrant matching hue. With colors this vibrant, you can keep the rest simple with complimentary neutrals. Effortless AF, but you radiate confidence in a cool and chic way.

Feeling extra bold? Throw on some killer pumps! The vibrant red/orange and playful neon yellow play so well off one another for a killer Summer look. When in doubt, an easy black base will tie it all together with ease. You look ready to run the world! I’d wear this to dinner, date night, a business meeting, shoot – I’d wear this just to wear it! Again, confidence is everything.

Where my girl’s girls at? A fabulous pink blazer was on my radar for so long. I was too stoked to find this one. But in case you haven’t noticed, basically any blazer can be dressed down for a cool daytime look. Cuffing the sleeves makes it more casual. This barbie pink one makes me so dang happy. Layered over a casual button down and again with lightweight cutoffs and clean sneakers really makes the blazer pop!

Embrace your playful side by with added color. I personally love bright and fun colors, they match my bubbly personality. Colorful pieces over a white on white look is such a go-to for me. White on white alone is clean and chic, but I do love adding a fun pop – or two – of color. Perfect for day or night, the pink blazer and neon pumps make for a vivacious pair. Both being classic silhouettes, keeps this look clean and polished.

Whether its a first date, or if you’re like me and have been with your partner for 10 years. Its the perfect occasion for a bold color. I love taking the bright red blazer, and layering over a solid colored neutral dress. It pops so well atop this faux leather lasercut dress, which alone is the perfect marriage of hard and soft. Adding the structure of a great blazer, in this unexpected bright color especially, just exudes bold confidence. & When its date night, that is never a bad thing.

God bless, coffee and sparkly blazers. Never underestimate the versatility of a good atheisure look. Playing with texture is such a great way to elevate an otherwise casual look. Don’t over complicate it. Simple leggings (I love these faux leather ones), black sneakers, a graphic tee or tank AND a sparkly blazer?? You’re the funnest person at brunch – but you’re put together enough that it doesn’t look silly.

Heading out on the town? Throw on some red lipstick, and rock that sparkly blazer. Black on black is seasonless, timeless and always a good idea. Keep it fresh for summer with an open toed sandal, or heel.

Style really is that simple. Wear what makes you happy, my friends. Keep your head tall, and don’t be afraid of people looking at you. You’re making a statement, one that says “I am confident, and I am me.” Own it! Case in point my friends, if you want to wear the sparkly blazer, wear the damn sparkly blazer.

Your confidence is your best accessory.
